Odelay Deluxe Artwork

Thursday, January 3rd, 2008

Pitchfork is claiming that the above is the artwork for the upcoming Odelay Deluxe (which I’ve taken to calling Odeluxe).

How rad is that cover? It is impossible to improve on the awesome simplicity of the original cover, and the only way to even try is to go crazy doodling all over it.

UPDATE: They also claim to have the official tracklist now. Pretty much what we had before, but with Computer Rock added and a slightly different order.

UPDATE 3: Ham points us towards the full art:

Beck’s Timebomb becomes international dance craze!

Tuesday, December 18th, 2007

An art student is using ‘Timebomb’ to get people dancing all over the world! Her project is called “Global Dancing Call and Response” and is an awesome idea:

Sarah Febbraro wants you to dance with her.

She wants everyone to dance with her.

The 32-year-old Art Institute of Chicago student and sometimes dance instructor has posted a short dance of her invention on youtube.com.

The idea is for people to learn it and in turn post videos of themselves cutting loose.

Limited Edition “The Information” Print

Wednesday, April 4th, 2007

We got this e-mail today and will pass it on to you. Judging by the prices of other Product Of God offerings, you can expect to pay between £125 and £250 for this.

Please find attached details of the forthcoming limited edition BECK print which will be going live on www.productofgod.net on 1st May. Product of God is an online gallery selling limited editions from the world’s leading graphic artists and illustrators.

The launch of www.productofgod.net will be marked with an unique art litho poster created by London based designers Big Active in collaboration with the internationally acclaimed musician Beck. Best known for their music design work, Big Active has created award winning album imagery for a variety of bands including Snow Patrol, Keane, Athlete, Basement Jaxx and Goldfrapp.

Most recently their groundbreaking work for Beck’s latest release ‘The Information’ has attracted much attention as a result of its collaborative nature. The poster is printed on self adhesive stock and features over 100 individual kiss-cut stickers selected from those originally commissioned for the album package by Big Active. The stickers themselves have been created by leading graphic artists and illustrators including Kam Tang, Jasper Goodall, Michael Gillette, David Foldvari, Jody Barton, Vania Zouravliov and Genevieve Gauckler,
to name just a few.

This limited edition of 200 individually numbered prints will be available exclusively on www.productofgod.net from 1st May 2007. Each print is signed by Beck.

Let me know if you would like any further information or would like to post this information onto your website to inform Beck fans in advance of the launch on 1st May.

Best wishes,
Sam Oxley

UPDATE: Sorry for all the little tiny updates, but I just wanted to say that a lot of the other prints Product of God has are by the same artists who did info stickers, and some of the prints are very closely related to info sticker designs.

Ryan McGinness Show

Tuesday, April 3rd, 2007

Artist/graphic designer Ryan McGinness has a show coming up that all you SoCal people should go to. You may not know Ryan’s name, but you probably would recognize his work: he has a very distinctive style and he designed a number of Beck t-shirts ~2002/2003. There are a couple here and here, but he did others as well, including the stormtrooper shirt.

Anyway, Ryan is an awesome artist, so if you can, definitely go check out his show.

From Boing Boing:

Graphic designer/fine artist Ryan McGinness has a new solo show of paintings opening this Saturday at Quint Contemporary Art in La Jolla, CA. The exhibition, titled “A Rich Fantasy Life,” runs through May 19. Seen here is “The True Knowledge of Things” (acrylic on canvas, 96″ x 96″, 2007). The rest of the collection also is viewable at the gallery’s Web site.
