Notes:
This was the 24th show of the Night Running tour with Cage the Elephant and Spoon.
The show was an odd one, as a lightning strike (right after "Saw Lightning" no less) caused the band to have to leave the stage about 5 seconds into "Dreams." "I apologize if our song summoned the lightning," Beck says.
They only had to take a break for about 15 minutes though, and it doesn't seem to have affected the setlist much at all. They even re-do "Dreams" after the break.
The entire show is on Youtube.
Beck does "Debra" solo on his electric guitar, and halfway through he calls for some saxophone. A guy comes out and plays a short sax solo while Beck adds some falsetto to it. An electric guitar/saxophone folk soul song! I am not sure who the saxophonist and Beck doesn't say, he just thanks him and he leaves. (I gather he might be from the Philadelphia Philharmonic.) The saxophonist also joins for "The New Pollution" and "Where It's At" later.
After the lightning break, the band comes out pumped up! "We promise not to play 'Saw Lightning' again," Beck announces. During his second solo section, Beck sings the opening lines from Tina Turner's "I Can't Stand The Rain" before singing "Everybody's Gotta Learn." Then he asks for requests, can't make out anything from all the shouts, and does "Lost Cause."
"Where It's At" has a particularly long instrumental intro before Beck starts singing. There's no curfew either, so Beck decides to dive into a full band intro cover jam as well (this had become a rarity on the second half of this tour). He also takes a long moment in the song to talk about how great the tour has been, and to praise Matt Shultz' cool NYC art performance a few nights earlier.
