Across The Universe

Original Performance: The Beatles

Lyrics:
Across The Universe [Version (a)]:

from The Beatles original:

Words are flowing out like endless rain into a paper cup
They slither wildly as the slip away across the universe
Pools of sorrow, waves of joy are drifting through my open mind
Possessing and caressing me
Jai guru dai va om
Nothing's gonna change my world
Nothing's gonna change my world
Nothing's gonna change my world
Nothing's gonna change my world

Images of broken light which dance before me like a million eyes
They call me on and on, across the universe
Thoughts meander like a restless wind inside a letter box
They tumble blindly as they make their way across the universe
Jai guru dai va om
Nothing's gonna change my world
Nothing's gonna change my world
Nothing's gonna change my world
Nothing's gonna change my world

Sounds of laughters, shades of life are ringing through my open ears
Inciting and inviting me
Limitless undying love which shines around me like a million suns
It calls me on and on, across the universe
Jai guru dai va om
Nothing's gonna change my world
Nothing's gonna change my world
Nothing's gonna change my world
Nothing's gonna change my world

The Song:

"Across The Universe" is a Beatles song. (Wiki)

Beck covered it on stage one time.

Live:

Played live once:
October 3, 2008

The show Beck played this at was a joint radio concert with his band and MGMT. They played a whole bunch of cover songs. According to the setlist, this song was paired in a medley with "All The Young Dudes."

It was possibly a David Bowie thing; he wrote "Young Dudes" and covered "Across The Universe" on his Young Americans album (with John Lennon's help)--an album Beck has done 3 songs from (this, "Win" and "Fame").

The show unfortunately does not circulate; I have not heard it.
