Lyrics:
Die Waiting [Version (a)]:

When the sky fades out and the roads all end
I'm gonna wait on you, gonna wait on you
When the money runs out and the walls close in
I'm gonna wait on you, gonna wait on you

I don't care what I have to do
You know that I'm gonna wait on you
I don't care what I have to do
You know that I'm gonna wait on you

Coming off the feeling
Got my body reeling
Really coming off the ceiling
All my memories got me kneeling
Almost had the real thing
Almost turned a new leaf
Darker than I ever knew it
Something that you're going through it
Oh yea

I don't care what I have to do
You know that I'm gonna wait on you
I don't care what I have to do
You know that I'm gonna wait on you

Hey oh, hey oh

When the sky fades out and the roads all end
I'm gonna wait on you, gonna wait on you
When the money runs out and the walls close in
I'm gonna wait on you

I can't understand why I've waited for so long
Just to walk out of the door, see the world moving on
And I lay down in the sun with the moonlight in my eyes
If it takes a lifetime, then you know I'll die trying, oh yeah

I don't care what I have to do
Know that I'm gonna wait on you
I don't care what I have to do
Know that I'm gonna wait on you
I don't care what I have to do
Know that I'm gonna wait on you
I don't care what I have to do
Know that I'm gonna wait on you
Die Waiting (2020) [Version (b)]:

When the sky fades out and the roads all end
I'm gonna wait on you, gonna wait on you
When the money runs out and the [wall's closin' in]
I'm gonna wait on you, gonna wait on you

I don't care what I have to do
You know that I'm gonna wait on you
I don't care what I have to do
You know that I'm gonna wait on you

Coming off the feeling
Got my body reeling
Really coming off the ceiling
All my memories got me kneeling
Almost had the real thing
Almost turned a new leaf
Darker than I ever knew it
Something that you're going through it
Oh yea

I don't care what I have to do
You know that I'm gonna wait on you
I don't care what I have to do
You know that I'm gonna wait on you

Hey oh, hey oh

When the sky fades out and the roads all end
I'm gonna wait on you, gonna wait on you
When the money runs out and the walls close in
I'm gonna wait on you

I can't understand why I've waited for so long
Just to walk out of the [door], see the world moving on
And I lay down in the sun with the moonlight in my eyes
If it takes a lifetime, then you know I'll die trying, oh yeah

I don't care what I have to do
Know that I'm gonna wait on you
I don't care what I have to do
Know that I'm gonna wait on you
I don't care what I have to do
Know that I'm gonna wait on you
I don't care what I have to do
Know that I'm gonna wait on you

The Song:

This is a song on Beck's 2019 album, Hyperspace.

This song was done mostly in collaboration with Cole Marsden Greiff-Neill, who has been one of Beck's engineers for a number of years. Here, he is a cowriter and coproducer, and plays most of the instruments. Joining the "family affair," as Beck called it on Sirius, Sky Ferreira sings back-up vocals. (Also singing back-up are Roger and Alex from his Colours tour live band.)

One credited writer is Kossisko Konan, who is a rapper from Northern California. It is unknown as of yet exactly what his contributions was to writing the song (he's not a credited performer).

Beck remixed the song for his Hyperspace 2020 release. Best I can tell, he removed some of the effects on his voice during the "I don't care..." choruses, and boosted the bass during the bridge section to be more up front. Some drums have been removed during the chorus too. Also the "oh yeah" at the end of the last verse seems more prominent.
